A LONG AND WINDING ROAD! (OUR STORY)
Greetings! My name is Kelly Reiser and, I am the President of Smarter RV Solutions. My wife and I have been full-timing for many years and have learned a ton along the way. We are happy to be able to share our Journey with you!
Our story begins on the East Coast right around the time a major virus changed the way we all live! Like many folks, me and my family found ourselves for the most part homebound and doing everything remotely. Travel was difficult at best, and flying anywhere was a massive challenge. In short, vacations (and visiting family) were out! Being home with my wife and my (soon to-graduate HS) daughter restarted a conversation that my wife and I had been having regularly over the years. I am sure that many of you have had similar conversations with your loved ones... it started kinda like this, "Wouldn't it be great if we could get outta this crazy state?"
Well, that conversation started a transition that much like a scene from "The Butterfly Effect" changed our world for the better and provided an amazing opportunity in life. We put our home on the market and started a serious search for our new full-time home on wheels! We were gonna go explore the country!!! When we found someplace we absolutely loved we would plant our flag and call it home!
Our first stop was California to see my mother and brother. Mom was approaching 90 but was always very healthy. She had a great reason to keep on moving as she took care of my brother who is disabled, My brother was mom's reason and everyone needs a reason! Mom was doing great and it was so good to see her. I normally traveled to see her every year on her birthday but business (and more recently a pandemic) had prevented me from doing that for several years. What a fantastic visit we had.
The trip to see Mom had us drive all the way from Florida to California and it was amazing. My wife, daughter, and I were all hooked!!! RV'ing was a permanent part of our life and we loved the journey!
When we were getting ready to leave, Mom mentioned that she had a doctor's appointment but at nearly 90 that was pretty normal. She looked great, was getting around great, and was still totally self-reliant. Off we went back to NJ for a wedding, and immediately after that, we would begin exploring the country. At least that was the plan....
Things took a turn when I got a call from my mother's doctor...Mom was in the hospital. Long story short, I flew to California and stayed with Mom until she was healthy enough to return home. I then immediately went back to the East Coast, gathered my wife, my daughter, our two dogs, and my RV, and drove back to California. We have been here ever since. The search for a new piece of land is on hold but, I am blessed to be able to be with my mother and to care for her as she ages.
How this took place makes me sure that this is all according to a bigger plan. I am thrilled to be able to spend these years with my mother and I am blessed that life had me in the perfect position to do so!

Before I discovered my love of working on RVs, I served in various roles in the commercial building space. My work focused on the systems that control the air conditioning, water, lighting, security, and fire alarm systems. I started my career working on the front line and grew through various management positions and into executive management. I started in the field, repairing systems that keep building occupants comfortable and the buildings themselves operating efficiently. I had the benefit of living right outside of NYC, close to some of the largest buildings in the world. This allowed me to work on some of the world’s most complex control and mechanical systems. Many of the air conditioner systems I worked on were larger than my 42' fifth wheel. In short, it takes a lot of really big AC units to cool a 60-story building!
My career in the commercial building industry spanned nearly 30 years culminating in the position of Senior Technology Officer. We focused on the design of energy optimization software that utilized big data analytics to drive efficiency. All of this technology came together to provide applications Fortune 500 corporations used to manage their global building portfolios. Some of my favorite projects included design and installation work for a new MLB stadium (the good team in NYC), globally recognized art museums, and critical infrastructure such as bridges and airports! Needless to say, it was a rewarding field that required constant learning and dedication to customer satisfaction.
Bringing my career experience together with my love for the RV lifestyle, I conceived of Smarter RV Solutions. It is my intention that Smarter RV Solutions not only provides a single-stop shop for the vast majority of your RV repair and maintenance needs but also leverages my love of technology to create a SMARTER RV experience. Through the process of connecting the systems in your RV, you can not only realize enhanced efficiency but also a great deal of added convenience.
I love the opportunity to meet and help people from across the country, I love working on RVs, so it all creates a natural fit. All the years of experience and training provide a natural foundation for optimizing RV living!
