Service Area & Rates
Smarter RV charges an on-site service fee for each trip to you. The rate is $3.00 per mile plus tolls. The minimum on-site trip fee is $50. The travel charge is one way to your destination only.
Each service call is charged an on-site trip fee unless we are already in the same RV park or area.
Mileage is based on the starting point of Alder Street in Gilroy, CA 95020
Our service rate is $150 an hour and we charge a minimum of 1 hour during normal service visits. Payment for the Trip Fee and first hour are due at scheduling or on arrival at your RV.
Once we arrive, we will ask that you demonstrate the issue you are looking to resolve and then perform appropriate diagnostics to determine the root cause of the issue. If parts need to be ordered or the repair will require a significant time to complete we will schedule the full repair and provide you with a complete estimated cost for your consideration.
All parts plus 20% of estimated labor for repairs is required upfront for scheduled repairs. Parts can of course be sourced and acquired directly if preferred.
Smarter RV will provide emergency service calls on evenings and weekends as availability permits. All emergency service calls will require that the service fee and travel fee are paid upfront. Please also note that our emergency service rate is $200 per hour and will be billed at a minimum of 2 hours. The total upfront fee for emergency service will be a minimum of $450.00 and possibly more if extensive travel is required.
Since we charge by the hour, it is best that you are prepared for our visit. We want to make sure we use our time and your money as effectively as possible. Being ready for our visit will ensure we can spend our time resolving the issues.
How to prepare -
Make sure that the issue you want to be diagnosed has been documented and communicated
When did the issue first occur?
Is it a consistent problem or an intermittent issue?
If it's intermittent, is there any specific time it seems to occur most frequently?
Share any pictures or videos you have that may provide additional context (captures of manufacturer tags and model numbers are helpful).
Clean out any areas that you suspect might need to be accessed (Storage is the most frequent, especially for water bay issues, inverter issues, and converter issues).
